Account & billing

Your Runtool account — sign-in, account settings, plans, and subscription management.

Your account is yours; workspaces are where training happens. Account settings live under Settings in the sidebar, and apply to you across every workspace you can access.

Signing in

Runtool signs you in with a one-time code sent to your email — no password to create, remember, or leak. Enter your email, type the code, you're in.

Account settings

Settings is organised into pages:

  • Account — your name, your email address, and your account mode: whether you use Runtool as an athlete, a coach, or both. Account mode decides which workspaces you see; see Workspace.
  • Runtool Agent — your Runtool Agent usage for the current period, your default preview mode, and its training framework.
  • Preferences — how the app looks for you, including the light/dark theme. Follows your account, not any one athlete.
  • Notifications — which notification types reach you, per channel. In-app covers everything; email is opt-in per type. See Inbox.
  • Integrations — the watch or platform you sync from. A connection authorizes your own provider account, so it lives here rather than in a workspace; see Integrations.
  • Billing — your plan and subscription; see below.
  • Athletes — settings for each athlete workspace you can access. These belong to the workspace, not your account — see Athlete settings.

Every settings page saves as you change it; there is no Save button. A fact shown as plain text instead of a control is one you can't change here — your email and the date you joined, for example.

Signing out is at the bottom of the settings sidebar.

Plans

  • Free — the core planning and tracking experience, free for good. Syncs and accepts the last 90 days of activity.
  • Standard — for athletes: advanced statistics, two years of sync history, unlimited file upload, and the Runtool Agent.
  • Coach — for coaches: everything in Standard, across an unlimited roster.
  • Pro — for runners and coaches who lean on the Agent: everything in Coach with 5× the Agent credits.

The current feature matrix is on the pricing page.

Free trial

Standard and Coach include a 14-day free trial. No card is required to start it.

The trial covers everything on the plan except the Runtool Agent, which turns on once your subscription starts. To continue past day 14, add a payment method under Settings → Billing; if you don't, the trial simply ends and you return to Free. Nothing is deleted — see below.

One trial per account.

Managing your subscription

Billing runs on Stripe. Under Settings → Billing, Manage subscription opens the Stripe billing portal to change plan, update payment details, or cancel. Cancelling downgrades you to Free — your data stays exactly where it is.

Deleting your account

Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and everything in it. Type your email address to confirm, and the deletion runs immediately — there is no waiting period and no way to undo it.

Deleting your account:

  • Deletes your workouts, activities, uploaded activity files, zones, health data, messages, and preferences
  • Disconnects your watch or platform integrations and hands the access back to the provider
  • Cancels any active subscription, with no refund for the remainder of the paid period
  • Deletes any pending athlete workspaces you created but never had claimed

Athletes you coach are not affected. Their accounts, workouts, and history belong to them and stay exactly as they are — they simply no longer have you as a coach.

Two things outlive the deletion by design: invoices Stripe holds for us, which accounting law requires us to keep, and messages you sent into an athlete's conversation, which stay in their workspace with your name removed.

Deletion is only available on the web. In the mobile app, Settings → Delete account opens the page.

FAQ

What happens to my data if I downgrade? Nothing is deleted. Features gate, data doesn't: everything you imported and planned remains in your workspace.
What happens when my trial ends? The same thing as any downgrade: you return to Free and nothing is deleted. Your athletes, workouts, imported activities, and history all stay exactly where they are — resubscribe at any time and they're open again.
Why can't I use the Runtool Agent during my trial? The Agent is the one part of Runtool that costs us money per message, and excluding it is what lets us offer the trial without asking for a card. It turns on as soon as your subscription starts.
Can I change the email I sign in with? Not directly from settings — your email is your sign-in identity. Write to hello@runtool.app and we'll move your account over.
Can I get my account back after deleting it? No. Deletion runs immediately and removes the data itself, so there is nothing left to restore. Signing up again with the same email gives you a new, empty account.
I'm a coach — what happens to my athletes if I delete my account? Their accounts and data are untouched; they keep everything and lose only the coaching connection to you. The exception is a workspace you created for an athlete who never claimed it — that has no other owner, so it is deleted with your account.
