Inbox

The Runtool Inbox — notifications, messages, and weekly recaps for you and your athletes in one place.

The Inbox collects everything that needs your attention: notifications about training, direct messages between coach and athlete, and the weekly recap. Coaches see their whole roster's activity in one stream; athletes see their own.

What arrives in the Inbox

Notifications are grouped into categories:

  • Conversation — direct messages.
  • Plan — plan changes and updated zones. Changes made in one sitting are grouped and sent together, not one-by-one.
  • Execution — workouts completed, and workouts your athlete added feedback to. A batch of uploads arrives as one notification.
  • Insight — load warnings such as an elevated acute:chronic ratio, load anomalies, and the weekly recap.
  • Relationship — coach–athlete connection events.
  • System — account and service notices.

Working the Inbox

  • Switch between All and Messages to focus the stream.
  • Toggle Unread to clear your backlog; mark items read one by one or all at once.
  • Dismiss a notification to move it out of the way — you can restore it later.
  • Coaches filter the stream by athlete.
  • Category chips narrow the stream to Plan, Completed, or Insights. They filter what you're looking at right now and change nothing about what gets delivered.

Each notification names what it is about — which workouts changed, which ones your athlete logged, what feedback they left. Opening a workout notification shows the workout detail right in the Inbox, so you review a completion without leaving the stream.

Messages

Coach and athlete message each other directly in Runtool. Threads live in the Inbox under the Messages view, and new messages arrive as conversation notifications.

The weekly recap

Coaches get one recap a week covering the whole roster, in the Inbox and by email. It is ordered by who needs you: athletes with a status that needs attention come first, each with the reason and the week behind it, then everyone who is on track. An athlete who logged nothing is named as quiet rather than left out.

The recap arrives on the day your weeks start — see First day of week in Preferences — and covers the week that just closed. Past recaps stay in the stream, giving you a week-by-week record.

Notification settings

Control which notification types reach you, per channel, under Settings → Notifications. In-app delivery covers every type; email can be enabled per type.

Under Delivery on the same page you set the digest hour — the local time, in your own timezone, that your emails arrive. Both the daily digest and the weekly recap land then. Coaches can also Preview the weekly recap there, built from their real roster, without waiting for it to send.

Runtool decides the timing beyond that: related changes are grouped and sent together rather than one at a time. There is no cadence setting.

FAQ

Can I archive notifications? Dismiss is Runtool's archive: dismissed notifications leave the stream but can be restored. There is no permanent delete.
Can I choose what lands in the Inbox? Yes — the notification settings under Settings → Notifications control delivery per notification type. The category chips in the Inbox are a view filter: they narrow what you see without changing what arrives.
Do notifications arrive by email? Email delivery can be switched on per notification type in the notification settings. In-app notifications are always available.
Can I change when emails arrive? Yes — set the digest hour under Settings → Notifications → Delivery. It is local time in your own timezone. The weekly recap's day follows your first day of week, because it reports the week that just closed.
